Mini-Vacation
To celebrate Jefferson's birthday last Friday, we took a trip to Conconully, WA (aka Middleofnowhere, WA). The drive out there was beautiful as it meandered along the Columbia River and through apple orchards covering golden hills *sigh*

This was a chill-out weekend for us: after breakfast, we'd go along a dirt road parallel to the lake, walking and running as far as we cared to go. I've since measured it, and one of our run/walks was over 6 miles round trip-not bad, eh? Then we'd get cleaned up, read, eat lunch, read some more out on the dock while enjoying the mountains and sky.
For dinner on Jeff's birthday, we walked into town and gave ourselves a tour of the whole place in about 30 minutes. We ate at a local restaurant/bar full of friendly folk and flies:) At night, we'd spend some time outside checking out the stars. We haven't had good starry skies for a long time! It was cool to see the Milky Way and some shooting stars. We checked out early on Sunday morning to make it to church on time in the nearby town of Omak. It was a nice service, and the people were awfully friendly. Then we drove home through Leavenworth and Steven's Pass.
On a side note, Jefferson had planned to bring his laptop so we could watch movies, but forgot it, so we were computer and cell phone free (due to no reception) for a two full days. At first we were a little bummed about the computer, but we did manage to survive with out it:)
